About

Philosophy

'Chi' in ancient Chinese philosophy, refers to the vital life force energy that flows through all of us. It is the essence that animates and sustains existence, bringing balance and harmony to the mind, body, and spirit.

We believe all our creativity evolves from this Chi. It is the intangible energy that infuses fabrics with life, style with meaning, and designs with emotion—transcending mere materiality to evoke an emotional connection with the wearer.

For us, channelling Chi goes beyond crafting beautiful garments; it involves building meaningful partnerships where each collaborator contributes to a greater creative energy. Through this process of co-creating, we not only enhance our designs but also magnify our impact on the world. Whether it's ethically sourcing artisanal fabrics or collaborating with local artisans to showcase traditional craftsmanship, every partnership is driven by intention. It is our sincerest wish to utilise Chi's transformative power to create fashion that inspires positive change, both within the industry and beyond.

Design Ethos

Inspired by seaside living, The Chi Studio's aesthetic reflects the carefree sophistication and purposeful ease synonymous with coastal communities.

Our designs are simple yet enduring. From versatile sundresses and tailored shorts to breezy button-downs and lightweight blouses, each piece has the potential to seamlessly adapt to the ever-changing tides of your life, transitioning from day to night, relaxed to refined—serving as a blank canvas awaiting your unique touch of creativity, ensuring you make each piece truly your own!

Fabrics

Our selection of all-natural fabrics prioritise comfort, ease and breathability. Flowing cottons, lightweight linens and airy silks dominate our collections, ensuring each piece feels as refreshing as a sea breeze.

At the core of our design philosophy lies a deep appreciation for the artistry and heritage of India-made handwoven fabrics, that have sustainability, culture and craftsmanship interwoven into every thread. We are driven by the challenge of reimagining these traditional textiles in a modern context, presenting them with a fresh perspective that resonates with today's Woman of the World.

In our debut capsule collection, we sourced handwoven cotton from three distinct clusters spanning across India—kala cotton from Kachchh, khadi cotton from West Bengal and a striped hand-spun cotton variety from Bihar—each variant offering its own distinct character, with a rich tapestry of textures, forms, and fluidity for us to play around with.
